Napazoline hydrochloride is a white or nearly white crystalline powder. Bitter. Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble , insoluble in ether. Melting point 254 ~ 260ºC. A vasoactive drug acting on the circulatory system, of the adrenergic class, having the pharmacological activity of constricting blood vessels and relieving nasal mucosa swelling and congestion. It is a direct acting alpha adrenergic apparent agent that constricts the dilated arteriole in the nose, but has no effect on beta adrenergic receptors. After local application, the effect can appear within 10 minutes, lasting 2 to 6 hours. Clinically, it is used to treat acute and chronic nasal, eye and pharyngeal mucosal congestion caused by various reasons.
